Developing deeper collaborations to drive more entrepreneurialism 

CHALLENGE

Reckitt Benckiser Group plc is a multinational consumer goods company. It is a producer of health, hygiene and home products.

Whilst the six teams within their Global Medical Affairs function had a good reputation for high expertise and delivery, it was felt that opportunities were not being capitalised on for the department as a whole. The department needed to demonstrate to the wider business a proactive, entrepreneurial and partnership spirit, in pursuit of the ambition and strategy for the organisation.

ACTION

We designed and delivered a breakthrough culture development programme, blending group development and individual coaching to:

  • Create the appetite and desire for the managers to become a leadership team, collaborate together and fully own the direction of the department despite past history
  • Facilitate the creation of an aligned vision responding to the business needs, raising awareness with stakeholders
  • Develop a way of working across the department that encourages an environment of teamwork, flexibility, innovation and future focus


RESULTS

  • Created a high performing team and innovative environment within Global Medical Affairs
  • Relationships between the managers have transformed beyond their declared belief. They now refer to themselves as a team, demonstrated by working together on issues, sharing resources and presenting one voice to the business
  • The wider business is benefiting from their proactive approach seen through new relationships, based on common goals and acting together
  • The department is working cross-functionally.  Enthusiastic mixed sub teams are delivering focused change projects including office accommodation and development of a skills database poised to launch company-wide
